The original shot this image came from was more or less useless: underexposed, bland, and poorly framed. However, it's initial disappointments like those that make for easy test subjects. You don't worry about "ruining" the photo when there isn't much to start with. The result required the most sophisticated adjustment in this set: a balancing of the individual color channels, setting the midpoint, highlight, and shadow for each separately. The final balance produces a very stylized print that may look good as a "Friends Forever" Hallmark card.
